Heavy Rescue 1741
This rescue vehicle contains Hurst Hydraulic equipment such as the "Jaws of Life", O-Cutters, Rams, Hurst Air Bag System, High Lift Jacks, and Forcible Entry Tools. This unit also contains a mounted cascade unit, which is used for filling air tanks at scenes of large-scale fires. It also is complete with a 9000 watt telescoping light tower that enables rescuers to work at night in artificial daylight conditions. This unit can seat 10 firefighters and is housed at the 8th Street station.  Anatomy of 1741

Engine 1711
1711 has officially been placed back in service after being refurbished.  During the refurbishment, 1711 has undergone a new paint, new emergency lighting package, and some minor vehicle modifications.  1711 carries (2) 1 ¾ cross lays, 1700’ of 4” LDH, 1500’ of 3” supply hose, 200’ of 2 ½ blitz attack line, and (2) 1 ¾ attack lines from the rear, and 100’ of attack 1 ¾ hose from the front bumper.  1711 is equipped with 500 gallons of water, and runs 1250 GPM pump.  1711’s main objective on the fire scene is primary attack, and is equipped with an Evolution 5200 series Thermal Imaging Camera, 7 complete SCBA packs, 8 spare air cylinders, a 4-gas meter, and firefighting hand tools. 1711 also carries basic EMS equipment including an Automatic External Defibrillator. 1711 seats 4 firefighters, 1 officer, and a chauffer.  It can be viewed by stopping by the 8th Street firehouse.


Brush/ Rescue 1742
A 1996 International Chassis has a 500 gallon water tank and can pump 500 gallons of water per minute. This unit has a “Pump and Roll” capability that enables it to drive off road through fields to extinguish Brush or Field Fires. It carries multiple size attack and supply hose. This unit also is complete with a smaller size "Jaws os Life" which contains rescue tools including a "Paladin Tool", a "Rabbit Tool", and "Rams". This unit carries a smaller supply a EMS(Emergency Medical Services) Equipment including an AED(Automatic External Defibrillator). This unit can seat 4 firefighters and can be seen at the 8th Street Station.


Medic/Ambulance 1781, 1782, 1783, 1784, and 1785
A 1998 and 1999 Ford Excellance are equipped with ALS(Advanced Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support)capabilities, which include a heart monitor/defibrillators. Highly trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) and Paramedics staff these units. These unit are available for viewing at the 8th Street Station.



Specialty Rescue 1744
A 1964 Mack, this unit serves the special purpose of a highly trained group of Firefighters, EMT’s, and Paramedics who are certified in a unique type of training called "Trench Rescue". This vehicle carries different types of shoring equipment which allows personnel to enter trenches to perform rescue. It also carries lighting equipment and is powered by a 40 kw generator.



Command Unit 1743
A 1998 Chevy 2500 Series Extended Cab is used by the fire officer on duty to respond directly to the scene of incidents to provide updates and assignments for incoming apparatus. This vehicle is also used to tow our off road vehicles where the larger apparatus can not access.



Medic I
This is a 1992 Ford Explorer, and is used as a quick-response vehicle, allowing a paramedic to assist a BLS ambulance. It is also used as a command unit for the EMS staff.



Water Rescue Boat 1747
The newest addition to our fleet is the Sea-Doo Watercraft. This unit is towed by Rescue 1743, and is used for any water rescue situations. Since the addition of the public boat launch at Rt 33 and Hope Road, this unit has been dispatched 5 times in 2004. We also will respond this unit to mutual aid water rescue calls in the surrounding area.



Specialty Rescue 1748
The Grizzly 4 wheeled unit is used for off road situations where the normal fire apparatus can not gain access to. This unit is ideal for the Bike Path and Tow Path both of which are heavily used in Bethlehem Township. The purpose for this unit is to access an injured persons and begin care until the EMS unit and personnel arrive.



Specialty Rescue 1749
The 6 wheeled John Deere unit has recently been transformed as an off road ambulance. With the addition of the "Med-Bed" This unit can transport EMS crews to injured persons where the larger rescue units can't gain access. The unit is stocked with a Backboard, Stokes Rescue Basket, Basic Life Support items, Search Lights, and Rope and Rough Terrain items. There is also a 2000 lb winch mounted to the front of the unit.
