Highly trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) and Paramedics staff these units.

This 2001 Chevy Tahoe, is used as a quick-response vehicle, allowing a paramedic to meet up with a BLS ambulance during an emergency that requires the need for Advanced Life Support. It is also used as a command unit for the EMS staff. Bethlehem Township and Medic One was the first Advanced Life Support unit in Northampton County.

Each unit has a similar layout for equipment. This allows EMS personnel to transition easily from one ambulances to another, assuring that they are comfortable during any medical situation. Our fleet manager ensures that each unit is operating at peak performance increasing patient safety and crew efficiency. Our units are dispatched to a variety of calls across Bethlehem Township and beyond.

Item 1

Life Pak 15

image The LIFEPAK® 15 monitor/defibrillator is the new standard in emergency care for ALS teams who want the most clinically innovative, operationally innovative and rugged device available today. Bethlehem Township is proud of the fact that each of our ambulances feature LifePak 15 monitors.

These monitors were purchased with funds from an AFG grant.

Item 2

Life Stat

image The LIFE-STAT® Hands-Free CPR System provides coordinated chest compressions and ventilation for cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with the guidelines of the American Heart Association. Clinical and research settings have proved that LIFE-STAT® is the standard in providing the most effective CPR possible.

We have multiple saves with these very effective tools. This device is costly and for that reason is only on select units. Donations are always accepted to assist in purchasing additional life saving equipment.

Item 3

Strike Team

image We have a special group of individuals with in Bethlehem Township EMS that are trained for when the nation needs help the most. Our Strike Team is trained to work with other EMS organizations from around the country when disaster strikes. This team is capable of handling Haz-Mat situations, Terrorist attacks, Natural Disasters Mass casualty incidents and more. The team can be deployed anywhere in the nation for up to 10 days at a time. The team receives its orders directly from the Eastern PA EMS council who takes the request directly from the Governor, PEMA or FEMA.

Our team was last mobilized for Hurricane Katrina. Although we have not been deployed recently, we have been on standby countless times ready to serve our neighbors.

Item 4

Pediatric Kit

image In a little world and Ambulance can seem a bit scary. Children are often afraid of the tools we carry. They don’t understand what all the activity is about.

To help ease the anxiety of our Pediatric patients we have a specialized kit just for kids. Everything that a EMT or Paramedic would need is in the kit. The difference is everything is kid sized. Why use an adult needle on a small l child, when a pediatric needle is smaller and will get the job done. An Adult blood pressure cuff is 4 times to big. A pediatric blood pressure cuff is the right size every time. This right size equipment partnered with access to pediatric specialized hospitals ensures that your child received the best care every time.

Item 5

Stair Chair

image The EZ Glide™ Evacuation Stair Chair glides down stairs without carrying or lifting. The track system carries patient loads up to 500 lbs, reducing situations where operators may injure their back.

From time to time patients are on a second floor or in a tight space to small for our stretchers. The stair chair allows our crew members to move those patients that are unable to walk to a stretcher. All our units are equip with the EZ glide stair chair.
